Restorations

Because this is a Renewal with no tax increase, there are not any restorations associated with this levy.  We are leaving on the site the listed Restorations from last year, however, because if this Renewal fails we will take a step backwards and would likely need to eliminate the recent Restorations.

The District has restored services as promised.

Restore reductions to textbooks/classroom supplies.

This restoration will take place as quickly as possible. Currently not all classrooms have enough textbooks for all of the students which means that books must be shared and can not be brought home. Some dollars would be spent immediately but the bulk would be spent in the 2009-10 school year.

Restore tutoring positions.

This restoration will take place as quickly as possible. Currently many students at risk do not have tutoring services available to them. The restoration would begin immediately in order to get help to the kids who need it.

Some increase of transportation services.

The minimum goal would be to shorten the length of the current routes and to add some additional cluster stops. It is expected that additional cluster stops will be added in November or December. Rerouting will take longer but is expected to occur sometime this school year.

Reduce Pay-to-Participate to $150.00 (including transportation)

This fee will be per activity with some family cap. This will start with the winter sports season.

Restore "B" athletic team concept at the Middle School.

Realistically, this could not be started until spring but the District would work to include more students on teams with the hope of getting more participation and games for more students.

A Principal in each building.

To begin in the 2009/2010 school year. By filling the position in 2009-10, it would help future budget and immediately would not be a good time to interview and then fill the position.

Add 6 - 8 teaching staff positions in order to reduce class size.

To begin in the 2009/2010 school year unless needed during this school year.

Retain Teaching staff.

A market study will be done to compare salary and benefits to other school districts in the Central Ohio region. Last year there were no raises and the staff paid more towards their benefits.
